The Violence Prevention Agency is committed to reducing the number and severity of incidents of violence by effectively training and assisting others to implement ongoing, proactive violence prevention and intervention strategies. The VPA’s best practice methods are designed to detect, investigate, manage, reduce, and resolve behavior that compromises the safety and wellbeing of individuals and organizations.
Violence prevention is a proactive, strategic approach directed at preventing and reducing incidents of violence and enhancing the sense of security and safety, to positively influence the quality of life in our society and develop cultures where violence cannot flourish.

Just hours before President Obama met with families of the victims of the Umpqua Community College massacre in Oregon, a Northern Arizona University student shot classmates following an altercation in a parking lot. There would be more fatal gun violence at a school in Texas that same day.

SOON AFTER THE school year started in September 2000, a police officer working at McNary High in Keizer, Oregon, got a tip about a junior named Erik Ayala. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Thirteen flight attendants filed a federal complaint Wednesday against United Airlines saying they were fired for refusing to fly from San Francisco to Hong Kong on a plane with the words "BYE BYE" and a pair of faces scrawled on it, their attorneys said Wednesday.
